SAVE OUR POST OFFICE

The post office leaves the Bee Hive on 4 July 2024. This will be a problem for many people who rely on the post office for their pension and for other financial services as well as posting parcels and letters. Our businesses rely upon the post office too.

Come to the Parish Council meeting on 3 April at Ings Village Hall at 7.15 pm for an opportunity to explore how we might maintain some of the services.

YOUTH PROJECT

As part of the Community Plan review we spoke to children who were just about to leave Staveley C of E school. They expressed an interest in many aspects of Staveley but when asked about provision for young people they had clear ideas about what they needed. We promised to follow up by inviting them and other young people in the parish to discuss a way forward. As part of the Partnership grant we are running a drop in event on Thursday 18 April (4 -6 pm) and Saturday (12 - 2 pm) so young people can express their views. After that we will draw together a group of young people to take a lead on making Staveley a great place to be young.

This will be done in collaboration between Sustainable Staveley, Staveley with Ings Parish Council, the church.

If you can help out at the drop-ins that would be great, contact us by clicking here. If you are a young person please come along to complete.

OUR COMPOST CHAMPS

This is a lovely project at Staveley C of E school, that is funded by the Partnership grant.

DEMOCRACY NOW /BUILD OR NOT TO BUILD

We need to be ready to respond to a review of the LDNPA Local Plan. You can find it here.

If you’d like to know more about how the LDNPA sees Staveley there’s a series of interactive maps that allow you to see the Lake District National Park in relation to each of the policies. Zoom in and find Staveley on each of the maps - for example you can see which areas are designated for which function etc. Click here to go straight to the maps.

If you want to make a difference to your community join the Parish Council.

When the Parish Council look at a planning application we use our own quick checklist document. Thanks to Mike Cambray for developing this.

You can find some of the buildings we value on our website here.
