Who?

Staveley with Ings Parish Council are looking for residents of the parish to become Parish Councillors

Why would you volunteer?

It’s a great way to make a difference to our community and to keep in touch with what is going on.

What does it involve

You will attend 10 meetings a year where any issue of concern to the parish are discussed. These meetings are held at Staveley Pavilion or Ings Village Hall on a Monday or Wednesday evening. We look at all planning applications and make a recommendation to Lake District National Park Planning.

Who?

A trustee who will oversee Project Management

We are seeking with project management and building refurbishment experience to join the team.

We are also seeking Volunteers to help With the running of our community events, grant writing for upgrades and maintenance of our faculties.

Why would you volunteer?

Becoming a trustee is for you if you value our wonderful community buildings. Becoming a volunteer is a great way to meet new people and have a bit of fun together.

What does it involve?

Volunteers can do as little or as much as they like.

Who?

Anybody who would like to help their fellow residents and has a little time to give. We need people to make grant applications, help us with admin or would like to get involved in one of our groups.

Why would you volunteer?

To help your fellow residents, get to know new people or you have a great idea.

What does it involve?

Staveley with Ings Together is a loose structure so you can do as little or as much as you like. For example writing grant applications, setting up a new group, or getting involved in one of our on-going projects such as Warm Spaces, FareShare, Community Larder etc.

We would like people to help us organise the organisation so if you have admin or IT skills or are skilled at applying for grants get in touch.

Who?

Bluebells and Conkers is a playgroup based around nature and the seasons for babies and pre school children. Just £1 per child. Bring along a healthy snack to share at snack time if you wish.

Playgroup meet at Ings Parish Hall on The 1st Monday of the Month starting at 9.45am

What does it involve?

We are looking for volunteers to help with setting up, clearing away and providing a craft session for the children to enjoy.

Who?

Staveley Playgroup paused its sessions on 19th July and is currently on pause awaiting volunteers to come forward to bring the lovely playgroup back

Staveley Playgroup is held at the Pavilion (next to the park) in term time.

The SVA hold our slot as Thursday, 10am to 11.30am

1st Staveley Scout Group

Who?

We are always looking for leaders and volunteers to help our unit continue to grow. Please get in touch if you would be interested in supporting your local Scout group further.

When and Where?

Beavers, aged 6-8 years old, meet each Tuesday during term time at the Staveley Pavillion from 6.30pm-7.45pm.

Cubs, aged 8-10½ years old, meet each Thursday during term time at the Staveley Pavillion from 6.30pm – 8pm.

Who?

Anyone is welcome to get involved. Our aim is to make the river Kent clean for all types of water-based recreation and to protect the ecology and wildlife in the river.

Why would you volunteer?

To protect our valuable and unique river which is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI)

What does it involves?

You can sign up to our newsletter to receive more information, get involved in practical activities such as citizen science water quality monitoring, helping to organise events and campaigns, undertaking research and joining our regular planning meetings. More info: senstaveley@gmail.com

Who?

Anyone is welcome to get involved with SENS – we bring together local initiatives that are helping to tackle the climate crisis.

Why would you volunteer?

To help make a difference to our local environment and build climate resilience.

What does it involve?

You can sign up to our newsletter to receive more information, get involved in practical activities such as caring for the community Damson Orchard, helping to organise events such as the Repair Cafes, or propose an idea yourself and take it forward, supported by SENS.

Who?

Anyone who has an interest in carbon reduction and sustainable transport!

Why would you volunteer?

To support a local scheme that is aiming to encourage less dependence on the car, and get more people cycling more regularly.

What does it involve?

Helping with promotional activity, giving inductions to new users. More info: hello@communityebikes.org

Established in December 2020 during lock down. Food on its way to being waste is sold cheaply to us from Preston Fare Share.

We divide it into boxes of food and sell to anyone interested for a small amount, currently £1.50. There’s no means testing.

When and Where?

Fare Share is on Mondays in the Pavilion. Collecting boxes of food between 11.30 and 1300. Or if you’re not around then it can be left in the special shed behind the Pavilion.

Anyone is welcome to get involved with the Coffee Mornings.

Why would you volunteer?

To help support this weekly Saturday Coffee Morning in our lovely village.

What does it involve?

You will be supporting the setup and clearing away of the tables and kitchen in Staveley Village Hall.
