  • Warm Spaces

    Warm Spaces provides a place to drop-in, for a chat, a bowl of soup and a pudding. It’s a great opportunity to meet new people and find out about what is happening in the village. You might even find a group who want a game of cards, Rumikub or dominoes. Everyone is welcome. Beat the lonely winter gloom and come along. It’s free although you can donate a little if you wish.

    When and Where?

    Tuesdays and Thursdays from November until March. 12 noon until 2pm. At the Staveley Institute.

    How can I get involved?

    Everyone is welcome: just drop-in. To join the team who keep it going email us or drop-in when we’re open. You can help by opening up, the Institute and serving the food. If fancy it you could make a pudding or some soup! Visit Staveley with Ings Together page.

  • Staveley WI

    Staveley WI has been running for 100 years. We provide an opportunity for women to meet in our local area, to make friends and make a difference to our community.

    When and Where?

    Meetings are held on the first Thursday of the Month at Staveley Institute with an informal meet up in local cafe on the third Thursday.

  • Mothers Union

    Mothers’ Union is a Christian based charity. It has been providing support for families since 1876. Over four million members are active in 84 countries, working with people of all faiths and none, actively supporting people at the heart of communities worldwide.

    When and Where?

    Staveley with Kentmere MU branch meet on the second Wednesday of each month at 2pm either in Staveley Institute or at St James’ church. More details are provided each month in the Parish magazine.

    When and Where?

    Saturday mornings 10am - 1pm, Staveley Village Hall

    How can I get involved?

    Everyone is welcome to drop-in to the Village Hall, usually a cash only event. Tea, Coffee and Cakes to purchase. All contributions taken on the day go towards designated charities.

  • Staveley Football Club

    Staveley United Football Club was formed over 70 years ago, over this time we've had both adult & junior teams represent the club. We currently have one adult team which plays in the Westmorland Football League Division 2.

    When and Where?

    Matches are played on a Saturday afternoon with training on a Tuesday & Thursday nights, our home ground is the Ayland Recreation ground on Main St.

  • Staveley Judo Club

    In 2009 the Staveley Judo Club was established by Sensei’s John (5th Dan) and Sylvia (3rd Dan). Increase fitness, boosts self-confidence, excellent system of self-defence, meet new friends, caters for all regardless of age or abilities, opportunity to compete at national level coached by previous national champions.

    When and Where?

    The club runs every Friday evening from 6:30 – 8:30. The under 16yrs class runs to 8:00pm and the senior class until 8:30.

    How can I get involved?

    To become a club/area member you will be required to obtain a provisional licence. After a 3 month period you will be asked to change this for a full licence. For those wishing to train more often, the Preston Patrick Judo Club runs every Saturday at Preston Patrick Memorial Hall contact Nick Elliott for further details.

    Staveley Bowling club extend a very warm welcome to everyone of all ages, and abilities, who would like to learn about the game of Crown Green Bowling or who would like to be involved in the social side of Staveley Bowling Club.

  • Staveley Angling Society

    Been on the go for about 80 years or so and we host about 30 members.

    When and Where?

    Our fishing is on the Kent from Beck Mickleing to the Pottery in Kentmere and fishing on the Gowan to the bridge just before Ings and Kentmere Tarn.

    All fishing is for brown trout (wild fish and stocked fish) with migratory salmon and sea trout also in our catchment. The tarn is fly fishing only but the river is open to most methods

    How can I get involved?

    We hold an annual general meeting for all members. Permits can be obtained from The Beehive or from Phil Booth Orchard Cottage Beck Nook Staveley.

    Staveley Playgroup paused its sessions on 19th July and is currently on pause awaiting volunteers to come forward to bring the lovely playgroup back

    Staveley Playgroup is held at the Pavilion (next to the park) in term time.

  • Staveley 1st Brownies

    Staveley Brownies restarted after the pandemic lockdowns with new leaders after the retirement of the previous leader. Brownies is for girls aged 7 - 10. Brownies cook, try a variety of crafts and other skills, have outdoor adventures, play games, learn about teamwork, go on pack holidays and earn lots of badges. Most importantly we have fun!

  • Bluebells and Conkers - Ings

    Bluebells and Conkers is a playgroup based around nature and the seasons for babies and pre school children. Just £1 per child. Bring along a healthy snack to share at snack time if you wish.

    A well established Scout group for boys and girls 6- 10 ½ years of age. Cubs Boys and Girls 7 1/2 - 10 1/2 years of age. We offer fun, games, adventures and opportunities to learn new skills and make new friends.

    When and Where?

    Beavers, aged 6-8 years old, meet each Tuesday during term time at Staveley Pavilion from 6.30pm to 7.45pm.

    Cubs, aged 8-10 ½ years old meet each Thursday during term time at Staveley Pavilion from 6.30pm - 8.00pm.

  • Sustainability & Energy Network in Staveley (SENS)

    SENS is an informal group of people who take action to promote sustainability and biodiversity in our local area.

     We work together, through practical projects, campaigns and events. In the face of the global climate emergency, we want to raise awareness of the ecological and sustainability issues by taking action locally in the Kent valley and surrounding areas.

    When and Where?

    We hold monthly meetings, sometimes in person, sometimes by video call.

  • Clean River Kent Campaign (CRKC)

    The Clean River Kent Campaign (CRKC) is led by a voluntary coalition of communities along the river Kent. Our local rivers need protection from pollution. Join our campaign to help keep the wonderful river Kent clean.

    We do citizen science testing, organise events such as litter-picking, and campaign for positive action to improve wastewater management.

     When and Where?

    We hold monthly meetings, generally in person, and usually in Staveley.

  • Staveley with Ings Fareshare

    Established in December 2020 during lock down. Food on its way to being waste is sold cheaply to us from Preston Fare Share.We divide it into boxes of food and sell to anyone interested for a small amount, currently £1.50. There’s no means testing.

    When and Where?

    Fare Share is on Mondays in the Pavilion. Collecting boxes of food between 11.30 and 1300. Or if you’re not around then it can be left in the special shed behind the Pavilion.

Performance

  • Staveley Amateur Operatic Society

    We are a very friendly group who put on a ‘Gilbert and Sullivan’ comic operetta each year in mid-September. We welcome new members who want to be involved, whether it be onstage, backstage, front of house, or just enjoying the company of others.

    When and Where?

    Staveley Village Hall. Rehearsals usually commence after Easter, initially on Tuesday evenings in the Institute from 7.30pm-9.30pm, then on Tuesdays and Thursdays from August.

  • Staveley Choral Society

    We are a versatile choir based in the Staveley. We range in age from sixteen to venerable, and are some of the nicest people you could hope to meet - as well as musically able and talented of course! We perform two concerts a year: one for Christmas and one in early summer, and have the occasional social event too.

    Rehearsals are Monday evenings, 7.00-9.00pm. September to May, in Staveley Village Institute.

    We are a small but well loved theatre based in Staveley.

    We publish our diverse programme of events on our website: StaveleyRoundhouse.com; hosting both in-house productions and touring companies, covering many diverse genres including plays, folk music, art exhibitions, book readings and an annual quiz night.

    Become a member: The Annual Subscription is £10.00 per person (or £16.00 for two people at the same address).
